Lifestyles

Users when looking for a product should have a very easy time accesing to what they desire. In these times, they should be able to put their info so they can order their product online. Though Lifestyles does this for their website, they don't have a mobile function. Because of this, here was my solution to their challenge.

The Challenge

Customers should be able to access to their desired product easily while also being able to put in their info to order their product on their phone.

The Solution

In response, the app needed to be made based off of the demographics/psychographics, preferred channels/content types, and interviews. It is also needed to show a list of suggested products from the manufacturer.

My Role

As a team of one, I needed to wear multiple hats.  I served as the UX researcher and the Product designer

Demographics and Psychographics

Key Demographics:

  • Age range: Young Adults all the way to elderly
  • Gender: Both Male and Female
  • Common job titles: Any jobs

Key Psychographics:

  • Values: Eating effectively
  • Likes to: Exercise
  • Wants to: Improve their health

Preferred Channels and Content Types

Preferred channels

  • Phone, Video Call
  • Browses social media platforms like: Facebook, Instagram

Preferred content types

  • Website Articles
  • T.V.
  • Mobile Phone

Interviews

Before diving into the project, I needed to interview people and get some takeaways on how to produce an optimal prototype for the Lifestyles app. Based on the interviews, these were my takeaways:

  • How might we find accessibility for the elderly people to obtain this product?

  • How might we make it easy to see the benefits of using this product?

  • How might we find a way to order the product?

  • How might we find a way to return the product?

  • How might we make the app functional while remaining its aesthetic?

  • How might we add the list of ingredients so users can be aware of what they’re consuming?

Competitive Analysis

While analyzing the competition, I looked into two apps, Lifesum, and Amazon.

I checked into Lifesum to see what a nutrition based app would look like. Its strengths show through the modernity of it.

As for Amazon, I looked into it because I wanted to know how to effectively  market a product.

However, I did find that it was hard for them to find a desired product on their app because of the excessive amount of things they sell.

Personas

Based off of the research, I created two personas that have various goals and pain points to cover.

Journey Map

Then I made a journey map of what a user would experience when using the app.

Initial Sketch Flow

Afterwards, I made a sketch of the first stages of how the app would flow while also focusing on the main goal and questions.

Storyboarding

I also made a storyboard to show how users would go through the Lifestyles app.

Paper Prototype

Next, I made a paper prototype for preparing the transition of the digital wireframe and high fidelity prototype.

Solution Sketch

The last thing I did before transitioning to the digital process is to make a solution sketch. This shows additional notes on what the user would expect in the app and a three part guideline on how to go through the app.

User Flow Experience

Afterwards I refined the layout of the user flow experience to have a cleaner idea of what to do. I also listed the user stories.

Typography and Color Schemes

Here is the text I used to make sure it's readable for the user when looking through the app. I also have the color schemes to show what I was aiming for when it came to contrast accessibility.

Mood Board

Here is my mood board for my Lifestyles app. This influenced the style on the UI and the colors I wanted to use for the app.

Wireframes

Here are some samples of the wireframes I made to get a further idea for my high fidelity prototype.

Usability Reports

Based on the tests, these were the reports I got out of my app:

  • There was a need of rewording for parts of the app

  • There initially wasn’t a price value for the product so that was needed to be added

  • There also wasn’t a shipping information page at first so that was added as well

  • However, the layout of the pages were nice and neat

Takeaways from the Project

  • Doing this type of a project for a client made me feel more responsible on how to make a thorough prototyp

  • The UX research part is important to me so I can match it with the UI design part of the project

  • This gives me a great impression on how projects would work in the future when creating these kinds of interfaces

  • Through this program, it shows how important both skills in UX and UI are needed in a worker’s kit

Next Steps

  • If I would continue making this app I would add some kind of referral system so people can be rewarded for promoting it to others

  • I would then add more aesthetical features to promote the product

  • I would also add a video explaining how the supplements work

  • I would lastly add a testimonial page so people would be more convinced to get the product
